The Korean leading automobile maker Hyundai Motor Limited announces the launch of one of its most popular brand 'Hyundai Santa Fe' in the Indian market. Hyundai Santa Fe is the well-liked sports utility vehicle of Korea, under Hyundai.
Hyundai Santa Fe was introduced into the International market in 2001 and it was the first car from Hyundai in SUV segment. After the Tuscan failed to make an impact in the Indian market, Hyundai is set to launch its best selling SUV Hyundai Santa Fe to the Indian market as well.
Speaking on the proposed launch of Hyundai Santa Fe by December 2010, H W Park, managing director, HMIL said "We will launch the Santa Fe in India this year. Hyundai Santa Fe will be a completely-built unit (CBU). We will consider manufacturing it as completely knocked down (CKD) unit; may be after two to three years. But, that will be done after proper feasibility studies."
Speaking on the launch of Hyundai Santa Fe, in the Indian market, HMIL Marketing and Sales Vice president Arvind Saxena has revealed that it is altogether a new entrant to the market. He added that the all new Hyundai Santa Fe would not be competing with the existing SUV 'Tuscan' from the same company.
Although Hyundai is gearing up to launch the Hyundai Santa Fe, it will not phase out Tucson, nor is it considering giving a facelift to the existing platform. Officials have also announced that both the models will not compete with each other as both will be built on different platforms. In addition to Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai is also planning to introduce an 800cc car in the Indian market by 2011. It is planning the launch of a face-lifted Hyundai i20 model in the domestic market.
Hyundai Santa Fe slated for launch in 2010, will receive a 2.4-liter base engine and a slightly tweaked exterior. The foray of Hyundai Santa Fe will be in built unit, while the company will focus on manufacturing, completely built units in the next two years time.
